Battlefield Cross
A U.S. Marine Lance Corporal, a scout sniper with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment Scout Sniper Platoon (who is a 24-year-old native of Walton Hills, Ohio), places the dog tag of a fallen Private First Class Marine on a battlefield cross following a memorial run to honor the sacrifices of 116 men from 3rd Marines who died during combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Marine's fallen brother was a 19-year-old native of Canton, Ohio, who died November 22, 2006, while conducting combat operations with 2/3 in Al Anbar province, Iraq. The regiment’s three battalions began supporting Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and during this course became the highest-deployed Marine infantry regiment.
