Stephen Douglas Volk's 1906 painting depicts the Second Minnesota's 1863 charge up Missionary Ridge (previously called Mission Ridge), in southern Tennessee (near the Georgia border) during the Civil War. The Minnesotans were among a group of Union soldiers who advanced without orders, defeating the Confederate soldiers, and resulting in a Union victory.
According to the Minnesota Historical Society: "On November 25, 1863, still stinging from defeat in the Battle of Chickamauga two months earlier and under siege with dwindling supplies, Union forces charged Confederate-held Missionary Ridge, outside Chattanooga, Tennessee.
After overtaking trenches at the base of the steep hills, the Army of the Cumberland, including the Second Minnesota Regiment, daringly pushed forward without orders, and swept Confederate troops from atop the ridge. Because this assault was spontaneous, many have called it the 'Soldiers’ Battle.' The officer waving his hat and urging his men upward is Lt. Col. Judson Bishop, a teacher and newspaper editor from Chatfield, Minnesota."

Optional Frames
The canvas is hand-stretched over 1.5" solid wood stretcher bars, then attached to a wood floater frame, with a pre-installed hanging wire. The frame adds approximately one additional inch to the total artwork size (for example a 36"x24" print with a frame would be 37"x25"). Easy Steps to Download & Print Your Digital Art
1. Download the pdf document from the email link sent to you (if you do not receive the email within 24 hours, check your spam folder and contact us for assistance).
2. Open the pdf document and click on the "Click Here" link to access the folder with the artwork file(s).
3. The link will open a folder in Google drive. Click the download arrow icon in the upper right corner of the screen to download the file to your computer or device. (You may need to double click the .zip file to open the folder on your computer or device, once it has been downloaded.)
4. Select an online printer and upload the artwork to be printed in the medium and size of your choice.

While you may choose to print the artwork on your own printer, we recommend using a professional printer for best results.
Our digital files are color calibrated - when ordering prints, we recommend you DO NOT select color correction.

Production, Packaging, Shipping & Delivery
Free Shipping
All orders include free shipping via "ground service" to addresses within the contiguous United States. (We do not currently ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or International addresses.)
Canvas Prints and Framed Canvases are carefully wrapped and secured in a flat box for shipping. They are fully assembled and ready-to-hang or display.
Fine Art Poster Prints are shipped rolled in a mailing tube, and can easily be flattened (prints 8"x10" and smaller are shipped flat.) They are ready-to-frame.
Production & Delivery Time
We use a professional production house to print, frame, and package our art & photography. All wall art is manufactured and printed in the United States. Items ship from Georgia, Texas, California or Kentucky.
Production Time: 3 to 6 business days (Monday through Friday)
Delivery Time: 2 to 7 business days (Monday through Friday)
Most items are delivered within 7 to 14 days from the date of order.

Replacements, Refunds, Returns & Cancellations
Replacements
We guarantee the quality and workmanship of our products. In the unlikely event we send you an incorrect item or you receive a damaged or inferior product, we will promptly replace the item free-of-charge. Please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order with photos of the damaged item, shipping box and packaging. Please note: Replacements must be for the same item purchased.
Returns & Refunds
If you change your mind once your art or photography order is received, you may return the undamaged item in its original packaging and box for a full refund. Please contact us within 14 days of receipt of your order to receive a return authorization number and return shipping address. You then have an additional 14 days after return approval to ship the item to our return address. Refunds are issued upon receipt of the returned, undamaged item. Customer is responsible for return shipping fees.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: Framed prints are custom orders. Custom orders cannot be returned and are not refundable. (If your custom framed canvas print order arrives damaged please contact us for a replacement free-of-charge.)
Digital Download Art is not returnable and is non-refundable.

As all art & photography items go into production upon order, once an item is ordered, we cannot guarantee we will be able to cancel or change it. If you need to cancel or change an order, please contact us immediately. If production has not yet commenced, we will do our best to honor your request - however, we cannot cancel or change an order once it has gone into production.
